Survey shows many get bad service from property agents

A survey by students of Ngee Ann Poly found that a majority of customers were disappointed with the service of property agents, with poor or wrong advice and inability to get a favourable price the main grouses. Most of the 1,000 people polled wanted some form accreditation and government intervention.

Killer litter plagues Regentville

Looks like condo dwellers aren't spared killer litter too, according to a letter written to ST Forum today. Ground-floor residents of Regentville, a condo in Hougang, have had cleavers, hardcover books, sanitary pads and diapers among other disgusting things land on their private enclosed space or balcony.

SAEA seeing more cases in the past two months

The Singapore Accredited Estate Agencies (SAEA) says it has seen a record number of cases in the months of July and August. 141 cases were received, compared to just 26 in the first half of this year. Not all were complaints against agents though, only about 20% of the 141 cases were.

Rude agent sends obscene SMS to client

The ugly side of agents rears its head once again from a complaint sent in at STOMP. The complainant allegedly received a rude and obscene message from their agent, supposedly after making an impossibly low offer for a flat.

The SMS apparently uses a Hokkein vulgarity and calls the clients ‘idiots’.» Read more

Be careful when sealing your property deal

The Sunday Times has come up with a couple of case studies that show how some properties deals fall through and buyer comes up worse for wear.

The first case involves a buyer forking out too much for the option to purchase. Worse yet, the seller was found to be in debt and the condo management could not transfer the unit to the new buyers because of the previous debt arrears. The agent also walked off with the commission.» Read more

DTZ has replied to an irate owner who had her unit number and transacted price splashed over a flyer. The agency has since apologized and has ‘since undertaken steps to ensure that transactional details are kept private and confidential in order to safeguard the interests of both buyer and seller.’» Read more

Home owners angry at agent practices

Home owners are disgruntled with practices of property agents and have written to the Straits Times to complain.

One home owner was upset that her East Coast condo had the exact unit and price stated in a publicly distributed sales flyer. She felt that her privacy was invaded by the agent working at DTZ and wrote to the company to complain. URA’s online property services respect the owner’s privacy by not revealing exact unit numbers.
