PRs to get less grants when buying HDB flats
It is now a little bit more attractive for a PR to take up Singaporean citizenship after some changes were announced last week.
If a couple comprising of a Singaporean and a PR decides to buy a HDB resale, DBSS or Executive Condominium now, they will receive $10,000 less CPF Housing grant. And if they were to buy a brand new flat directly from HDB they will have to cough up $10,000 more.

Notably, Singaporean/PR couples who want to take the leap and take up full citizenship to become a Singaporean/Singaporean couple much later can still claim the $10,000 Citizen Top-Up via CPF.
But will this $10,000 difference really encourage PRs to take up full citizenship? Only time will tell.
In another announcement, the Quota for PRs will be kicking in at the block and neighborhood levels. PR quotas will be set at 5% in each block and 8% in each neighborhood. PRs with a Malaysian background will dodge this quota though.
These policy changes are in effect immediately - penny for your thoughts?
