Office buildings being converted into residential units
Seems there are plans to partially convert the iconic StarHub Centre into a residential complex.Apparently the building had a lower than usual occupancy rate in the third quarter of last year, and so CapitaCommercial Trust Management decided to convert it. The outline planning permission have since been granted by URA, specifying as much as 80% of the gross floor area to be used for residential.
We did a little more digging and it seems that StarHub Centre is not alone in this. Here are a few other buildings that might go that way too:
VTB Building along Robinson Road?
Aviva Building along Cecil Street?
UIC Building along Shenton Way?
Should this be a worrying trend?
