The Quartz (99 yr) is one of the latest condos to receive its TOP status in District 19.

Although it is sited very close to surrounding HDB blocks, it is well located within a short walking distance to Buangkok MRT and sits between Sengkang and Hougang. A good number of eating places and supermarkets (NTUC) are also clustered near the condo.

Now with over 625 units on a modestly sized piece of land, will it be cramped in there? We visit the condo to find out:

The main lobby and drop off area within the condo. You will be immediately greeted by the gym...

and the lovely pool area...

The pool area from another perspective. Deck chairs line the pool, with some BBQ pits surrounding it. There are different pools for some serious swimming, and some for just splashing about.

The gym overlooks the pool filled with speedos and bikini clad residents...to keep you motivated through your cardio regime.

We thought that it would be interesting to dig up an old picture from the brochure. Can you spot any differences?

There is a function room below the gym, quite well located...away from all the screaming kids.

Nice eh? Do you guys think this will be sufficient for 625 households?

Nice Jacuzzi area...yes those are HDB flats across the street. But don't worry, there are plenty of trees.

There are BBQ pits scattered elsewhere throughout the estate. Decent chairs, tables and sinks!

Cabana for you sir? Thought this was a very nice touch...the residents staying just behind it can gawk at lovebirds all day long.

This is a multi storey structure with two tennis courts on the lower level, and some sky fitness stations.

Fancy looking roof...will not keep out the 12 o'clock sun. You will also notice new HDB flats in the background.

What exactly is so special about these ground floor units?

Well they have garages that are linked directly to the basement car park!

Cool huh? Just drive into your own garage...no need to fight for parking!

The units rise up high, but most blocks will get at least some view thanks to a clever layout.

We liked The Quartz. It was simple, new and close to the MRT. Although there were alot of units it didn't feel too tight inside. But we heard that the BBQ pits were booked out for months ahead!
